7 Things that Sap Your Spiritual Energy

    Non-Emotional Spirit Sappers!

by Janice Taylor, Life & Wellness Coach and 50 pound big-time-loser.

Sometimes things get in our way and weigh us down, stop us from moving forward, muck up the works and inadvertently send us to the fridge, and these things may have nothing whatsoever to do with our emotions.

Some of these non-emotional spiritual sappers fall below our conscious radar and are computed by our subconscious. So take a moment to stop, be aware, look around, listen, and take note.

What is seriously sapping your spiritual energy? Your resolve? Your energy?

    Our Lady of Weight Loss's
Top Seven Things that Sap Your Spiritual Energy

    1. CLUTTER silently gnaws, bites, and nibbles away at your calm center as it takes up valuable air and space.

What to do? Clean up, of course! Make order (humans love order). Read "Miracle of Clearing Proportions."

    2. LOUD NOISES grate, aggravate, annoy and irritate and can wind you up and drive you mad!

What to do? Wear ear plugs! From $1 to $187.50

    3. AIR POLLUTION can negatively impact on our health, cause coughs, burning eyes, breathing problems and even death (which would surely sap spiritual energy).

What to do? True, we have no choice but to breathe, however, we can avoid high-traffic industrialized areas on poor air quality days (my head is spinning that we've created such a planet). Protect yourself and the air you breath!

    4. DEHYDRATION dries, shrivels and depresses. Our bodies are more than 75 percent water, our blood is more than 80 percent water, our muscles more than 75 percent water and our brains more than 76 percent water! We NEED water to think!

What to do? Bottoms up, plain and simple. Drink 6 to 8 glasses every day! Our Lady has plenty to say on the topic!

    5. WORRYING clutters the mind, drains, takes up valuable thinking time and carries some heavy-duty negative health effects with it.

What to do? Meditate, listen to music, chant!

    6. SLEEP DEPRIVATION brings on feelings of irritability, impatience and depression. It weakens the immune system and leaves dark circles on ones eyes.

What to do? Get a good night's rest! (Duh!) Stanford U. has some tips on sleeping!

    7. TELEVISION deadens the mind and puts you into a non-active, non-thinking state. You disappear all right, but not in a good way.

What to do? Escape into a book. Or into something interactive that teaches. I highly recommend EdHeads.org. Have FUN!

Spread the word, NOT the icing,
    Janice

    Life As It Is
    Making Life Work For You

Sometimes we have so many varying responsibilities in our lives, ranging from work obligations to caring for children to running a household, we feel we cannot possibly make it all work. We may feel overwhelmed in the face of it all, ending each day feeling hopelessly behind schedule. However, regardless of how frustrating this can be, these are the parameters that make up our lives, and we owe it to ourselves to find a way to make it work. Rather than buckling under the pressure of an impossible to-do list, we might take a moment to view the larger perspective.

Like the president of a large organization, we must first realize that we cannot do every job ourselves. The first step to sanity is learning how to delegate some of the responsibility to other people, whether by paying someone to clean our house or trading childcare duties with another parent. In addition, we might find places where we can shift our expectations in ways that make our lives easier. For example, expecting ourselves to create a healthy home-cooked meal every night after a full day of work, errands, or caring for an infant or toddler may be a bit excessive. We might allow ourselves to order in food once in a while without any guilt. Accepting the adjustments needed to make our lives work is an essential ingredient to being at peace with our situation.

At the end of the day, we must come to terms with changing what we can and accepting what we cannot change. Sometimes the laundry piles up, a sick child demands more of our attention than usual, and we temporarily get behind with our schedule. Accepting this momentary state of affairs and trusting in our ability to get back on track when the time is right, we gracefully accept our life as it is, letting go of perfectionism and embracing life as it stands.

Awakening The Healer Within: A Medical Intuitive Story

    By: Oly Schalow

"I do not belong here" was a recurring thought during my childhood.  In searching for love, acceptance and a sense of purpose in life, I decided to try and change the world - starting with my own family.  Although I tirelessly took responsibility for parents, siblings, friends, and later on, even my husband, my efforts to change others did not work.  On the contrary, it led to regrets, guilt, innumerable diseases, medical treatments and hospital visits.

After years of pain, I learned to close my heart and let go of my vision of "an evolved world."  Instead, I decided to integrate into the "real world" by excelling in academics.  After obtaining a law degree and multiple postgraduate degrees in Europe and United States, and attaining corporate positions, I concluded: "I am finally in control."  I have success, recognition, and am financially well off.  I left out one small detail: my joy.

All those years of hospital visits, when the only agreement among the clinicians was there was something really wrong with me. When I opened my heart and mind, I found the world of holistic medicine.  I transitioned from being a lawyer to a practitioner of energy medicine, qigong and medical intuition.  Balancing energies to release pain, looking at the entire person vs. symptoms and body parts - what a unique concept!

I still had a question, a question that came to me daily in early childhood - why? .. Why me?  This question led me to seek within and I gradually developed the ability to see and listen to the energy body identifying the direct root cause of every emotional and physical symptom.

Caring physicians and other healthcare professionals began asking me to assist them with some of their more difficult cases. I cared for many young children with chronic respiratory, digestive or other issues who felt responsible for their parents' emotions.  Others required assistance to release pre-natal/karmic issues.  Women healed breast cancer as they mastered the art of self-nurturing.  Men let go of bladder or prostate cancer as they uncovered some past resentment and learned to flow with life more easily.  Chronic pain of all sorts melted away as people applied forgiveness to past hurts.  All were supported in an environment of unconditional love and acceptance.

"Thank you for the hip replacement" said a volunteer in one of my Unleash your Intuition workshops.  When the root cause of a debilitating pain was revealed, she finally forgave her mother and in minutes the pain completely disappeared - not to return.  Healing through truth, love and forgiveness works every time, with more or less assistance depending on our level of readiness and self-empowerment.

In healing myself, I have found my purpose - to assist others on their own journey.

I enjoy supporting those in their healing path with a deeper understanding of the root cause of their disease, assisting them to find health and harmony as well as offering simple self-healing tools to help them create an ongoing dialogue with their bodies.

As a Medical Intuitive, I learned to connect with my soul's guidance and my life flows now with ease.  I enjoy a Universe that is designed to care for and nurture all of its creatures.  I discovered that intuition is not a gift, it is a choice and I feel passionate about empowering others by teaching them how to develop, access and trust their intuition to whatever level they need to assist themselves or their clients.

We are all born with a profound sense of inner knowing, which keeps us connected to our higher selves. We have a support system that is there to guide us throughout our lives. I encourage everyone to let the heart take the lead, leave the ego behind and live an inspired life.

As my heart opens more and more, I am finding truth, deep love and appreciation, for everyone just the way they are.  I have also embarked on a journey towards unconditional and fearless self love, a spiritual journey I did not expect.

After endless stories of self-discovery and healing, I finally belong.  I realized that we are here at a unique time in history, not to conform but to transform ourselves, and by doing so, also our planet.

    Being Clear About Desires
    Getting What We Want

The best way to get what we want from life is to first know what we want. If we haven't taken the time to really understand and identify what would truly make us happy, we won't be able to ask for it from those around us or from the universe. We may not even be able to recognize it once it arrives. Once we are clear about what we want, we can communicate it to those around us. When we can be honest about who we are and what we want, there is no need to demand, be rude or aggressive, or manipulate others that are involved in helping us get what we want. Instead, we know that we are transmitting a signal on the right frequency to bring all that we desire into our experience.

As the world evolves, humanity is learning to work from the heart. We may have been taught that the way to get what we want is to follow certain rules, play particular games, or even engage in acts that use less than our highest integrity. The only rules we need to apply are those of intention and connection. In terms of energy, we can see that it takes a lot of energy to keep up a false front or act in a way that is counter to our true nature, but much less energy is expended when we can just be and enjoy connections that energize us in return. Then our energy can be directed toward living the life we want right now.

Society has certain expectations of behavior and the roles each of us should play, but as spiritual beings we are not bound by these superficial structures unless we choose to accept them. Instead, we can listen to our hearts and follow what we know to be true and meaningful for us. In doing so, we will find others who have chosen the same path. It can be easy to get caught up in following goals that appear to be what we want, but when we pursue the underlying value, we are certain to stay on our right path and continue to feed our soul.

    WE'RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER

    By: Paul Gonyea

Separation is the state of consciousness where any one person or group of people feel that they are more important than someone else.  It is the belief that we have to get "ours" first, or there won't be enough.  It is the belief that we can only protect ourselves by building walls, or by killing or imprisoning other people.  At its most basic level, it is the tragic and mistaken belief that God favors one person or one institution over another, and that we have to figure out which side that is. It is this belief, this illusion that we must struggle against each other and against a hostile universe to succeed and to survive, that keeps the human race from realizing the spiritual magnificence which is our birthright.

The opposite of "separation" is not "connection"; it is Oneness, or Unity.  So the ultimate solution to this "disease" is not just to try and get along, even though that would definitely be an improvement on the old, adversarial way of living.  The only real, lasting solution will be when we finally recognize that "I and my brother are One," that I and my sister are the same at the level of Spirit, which is the level we all share as divine beings.

Ancient teachings taught, and current scientific thinking agrees, this entire universe is a single, living, thinking, growing entity. It's the body and the mind of a single consciousness which includes everything that exists.  This Perfect Intelligence has no race, no gender, no nationality, and definitely no religion, yet it includes all these things.  It is infinite variety from the one source of all life.  That's why, because it's ALL GOD, nothing can ever be "against" anything else; the nature of Life is harmony in all things. Which means, if you think about it, that any conflict between ourselves and anyone else is as ridiculous as our stomach fighting with our liver over who is more important.

The reason this is significant for us to understand is because the world we are constantly creating together will always reflect our deepest beliefs about the world and the people in it.  It also reflects our understanding of the true nature of God. We create our experience through our own consciousness, but we must remember that we all share that consciousness; that's the "true nature of God" part.  So the only intelligent solution must be one that allows everyone the freedom to grow. We all want to be free to do our own thing, which is fine.  But let's not forget that we all breathe the same air, we drink the same water, and we benefit from the same peace.  It's time to stop thinking in terms of "us vs. them," and to start seeing the whole world, and everyone in it, as the "I AM" of God.

PAUL GONYEA is the Senior Minister at the Spiritual Living Center of Atlanta, a large metaphysical community growing in Midtown since 1979. He speaks every Sunday at 10:00 and 11:30 at the Rich Auditorium of the Woodruff Arts Center.  Find further information at www.SLC-Atlanta.org
